Project Description

My Home is Your Home is a Youth Exchange that aims to put together 30 youngsters between 18 and 30 years old (nationals, first and second generations immigrants legally living in Portugal, Greece, Spain, Italy and Bulgaria), from 12 to 22 September in Gibellina (Trapani, ITALY).

The healthy confrontation of immigration realities, including the refuggees one, and the sharing of experiences will lead this mobility through activities of intercultural dialogue and awareness, games and criative exercises for the improvement of european awareness and social inclusion of disadvantaged people. The Stories shared are going to be used as a mean to diffuse a more positive message of cultural diversity and tolerance, making the participants more active citizens and with more initiative to work in their communities. The knowledge acquired about this target group, their needs and possible contributions, can prepare the local communities, the youth workers, the organisations and the european reality to work better with this target group and for their social integration.

The main goals of the project are:
- to increase tolerance for diversity and to develop methodologies and strategies of social and cultural inclusion of migrants in the communities;
- to develop the feeling of european identity, as well as european values and the sense of active citizenship;
- to develop creative skills and personal expression;
- to promote Erasmus+ and opportunities for youth;
- to increase the knowledge on migration policies;
- to develop problem solving skills.

The methodology is "active-participative" and is developed through:
- sharing of personal stories and experiences;
- icebreaking techniques;
- techniques of horizontal communication and promotion of participation, also with non verbal communication;
- team work;
- debates that promote reflexion and opinion sharing;
- visits to hosting centers for migrants;
- creation of stories and creative elements through recyclable materials;
- consultation of books, magazines, newspapers and documents;
- knowledge of migration policies, youth opportunities and european values.

The project focus on the education of european citizenship, particularly by creating a Story and a Book that promote tolerance on diversity and social inclusion of migrants, translated in all the present languages of the project, with the aim of developing it at their own city projects in schools, with children or youth, through that Story.

La Koinè, ITALY

Koinè is a youth non-governmental, non-political and non-profit organization, founded in 2013 in Gibellina(Sicily).

We believe that positive transformations come from within every individual, and when the individuals connect they can bring profound and lasting changes to the community. Our mission is to support development of human potential, as well as to empower non-profit organizations to bring the most benefits to the community.

We wish to motivate young people to become involved and to raise awareness about current values like equal opportunities, social inclusion and cultural diversity. Through our projects we aim at the promotion of non-formal differentiated learning and the importance of personal development.

We are involved in the promotion of citizenship rights, and in the spreading of involvement activities, through the fulfilment of creative laboratories, and through the development of projects whose purposes are the territorial intervention.

Even it works to promote the social inclusion, in general, targeting its activities to students, young people and children.
